2010 ProvincialsSubmitted by Pat Harrison on Tue, 07/06/2010 - 09:59 |
Where to begin.....
The match was fantastic, the courses of fire were some of the most challenging we have faced in many, many years. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come! I think many shooters realized the hard way that IPSC is an accuracy sport too and that we have gotten lazy with course design leaning towards far too many easy shots.
The match staff worked very hard to put the match together and it showed. Thanks to everyone involved. The Officials had their work cut out for them, working some very hot, long days and somehow they managed to stay happy and helpful throughout the match.
The level of competition in all divisions is getting higher and higher, which is good to see. I think we are seeing the emergence of some new talent in all Divisions and Classes. There are some young shooters to keep an eye on.
Congrats to Nikita, Mike, J-P, and Bernie on their Division wins and congrats to the Ontario Provincial Champions; Alex, Mike, Kent and, Bernie!
As for my match, well what can I say, the wheels pretty much came off on the first stage. I went into the match with a lot of confidence (maybe too confident) as I had done a lot of accuracy work this year. In fact I am shooting probably better, accuracy wise, then ever before. I've been working on a lot of new techniques with some help from some very good shooters Stateside, but it appears like I still have some work to do in getting the new skills ingrained. I had a couple of good stages including the strong and weak hand stage and anything with running and gunning (not much) which had been weak points for me.
In the end I had one of my worst performances at the provincials ever, but there's a lesson to be learned in everything so I'll go back to work and strive harder for better results in the future.
