right now i have a Para P-13 45cal its 10rd mags but i need to fined and put a Magwell on it to make the grip a little longer . The grip on it just a bit to short in my hand
Thats the commander size frame right? Just a bit shorter than full size? I'm not sure who makes a magwell for that frame, I think you could find a Guncraft or Dawson which use the frame pin to attach...might need to be modified a bit I'm not sure. I used an S&A magwell on a Para open gun I had but it is a one piece mainspring housing and funnel, I don't think they make it for shorter frames.
I shot the Brantford match this weekend with my Kimber Custom II. Right now it is unmodified. Except for mag changes (no magwell) it performed great. I ran one of the courses (the long course) within a half second of a Master shooting a .40 S_I framed Standard gun. With quicker reloads and a bit more time on the gun, I think I would be completely competitive with it. In Canada with 10 round mags in a Para, I don't think you'd be handicapped at all shooting a .45 over a .40. You just gotta practice :)
In what platform? in Single stack (Springfield, Kimber, Colt) you are handicapped by small magwell and 8 round capacity. In a Para/STI/Caspian, I don't think it makes too much difference with the right loads. Personally I have a Kimber .45 that I will shoot in Standard in the next couple of months as I want to go to the Single Stack Nationals. But If I want to be competitive, in canada, I'd get either a .40 or .45 in a STI frame. To be competitive in the US, .40 hicap all the way, you need the extra rounds.
